Lean Six Sigma

During your apprenticeship, you will also learn about Lean Six Sigma. Lean Six Sigma is a process-improvement methodology that combines Lean’s focus on eliminating waste with Six Sigma’s focus on reducing defects and variation using data and statistics. It is widely recognized across industries, with global certification bodies such as ASQ, IASSC, and the Council for Six Sigma Certification validating practitioners’ skills and signaling credibility to employers. In project management, Lean Six Sigma fits naturally because it provides structured methods like DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) and a toolkit of analytical and problem-solving tools that help project teams target customer needs, quantify problems, and deliver measurable improvements in quality, cost, and cycle time. Integrating Lean Six Sigma into CAM apprenticeships means apprentices learn not only to complete tasks, but to continuously improve the processes they work in—making them more valuable to employers and aligning strongly with a project-based, results-focused apprenticeship model.
