Empowering Future Leaders
CAM Pathways (CAMP) is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization designed to empower future leaders beyond the classroom by turning the whole community, with a focus on partnerships with local churches and businesses, into a learning campus where education, work, and service are fully integrated. At the same time, their peers are just graduating from high school; participants can earn an accredited high school diploma, build real experience and relationships in their community, demonstrate true mastery of key subjects, and potentially complete a college degree or at least earn substantial college credit. By removing redundant coursework and organizing learning around mastery, apprenticeships, and job placement, and one-on-one mentoring with community leaders, CAM Pathways accelerates the journey from classroom to career so young people enter adulthood with stronger credentials, deeper purpose, and a proven record of impact in the workforce and their communities. Face it! Some people learn better by doing rather than by sitting in the classroom (not that there is anything wrong with the classroom).
Career Readiness Has Many Paths
Public school work-ready program
This program is an after-school apprenticeship or intern-based program focused on project management. Students can earn competency-based college credits and get paid by working with local employers and gaining valuable project management experience that can be used to satisfy the Project Management Professional (PMP) requirements.
A complementary public-facing after-school program is built to work with, not against, local districts by aligning with school goals and offering students a “work-ready” certificate that signals foundational skills and career-readiness to employers. This is accomplished by providing apprenticeships with local businesses and a competency- and mastery-based program that earns college credits and is ready for transfer.
Project Management-Project management is the discipline of applying processes, skills, tools, and knowledge to achieve specific project goals within defined constraints (scope, time, budget) by planning, organizing, leading, and controlling resources, ensuring a unique product or result is delivered successfully from start to finish, unlike ongoing management. It involves guiding a team through initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure phases to meet objectives and deliver value.
The average salary of a PMP is over $110,000 per year.
Whether or not you want to be a PMP, this program could still be beneficial for any student. Understanding project management can help a person in ANY career field by clarifying the "why" behind decisions.
The program not only helps students become better prepared and better leaders, but also gives local teachers, business owners, and parents the opportunity to work with a non-profit, earn a little extra spending money, and raise funds for their own classrooms, while helping mentor future leaders.
Participants can join a program that allows them to work toward an accredited associate degree, and in some cases a bachelor's degree, while still in high school.
There is no cost to the qualified student.
Mentors (often teachers) are able to earn as well.
Faith-Based micro-school accelerated academy
This program is free to local churches and non-profit organizations. The faith-based, individualized, micro-school program awards two diplomas. The first is a WV approved diploma from your own school. The second is from a nationally accredited diploma (through third party). There are also courses and assessments, evaluated by the American Council on Education (ACE), allowing students to potentially earn widely recognized college credit while still in high school. (Direct Assessments required for college credit).
Students will have the opportunity to earn a nationally accredited associate and in some cases a bachelors degree while still in high school. (As a result of redundancies being eliminated through competency-based efficiencies).
The program is project-based (not classroom-based), so students learn through hands-on experience in the community, and in many cases, in your church.
Using a competency, application, and mastery (CAM) framework, students move forward by demonstrating what they know and can do through real work, not just seat time. Apprenticeships and community-based projects with local partners give them the chance to apply their learning in authentic settings, build in-demand skills, and graduate with both advanced credentials and meaningful experience while earning college credit.
We provide the program, the teachers, the back-end infrastructure, and business operations.
Your church provides the name, space, and a non-instructing volunteer (or paid, depending on you) classroom "guide". The number of hours is determined by the church program.
Because the program is competency-based and not classroom-based, the amount of time students are in the classroom is determined by your church. (We are currently only offering accredited high school programs, but K-8 will be available.)
Your church earns tuition from the WV "HOPE" Scholarship program at no expense to the families.
Business partners in the community will potentially be able to take advantage of tax breaks and youth workforce initiatives. This includes much of the compensation for the apprentice being reimbursed (requires WOIA approval).
All classes are infused with your church's message as well as all the information required to do well on standardized testing required by state and national laws. We will work with you to design your own classes that can be integrated into the already provided curriculum.
Phase I is high school. Phase II is K-8.
All programs lead to two diplomas. One will be from your church school (approved by the state of WV), as well as a Nationally accredited third-party school program. Thus, graduates receive 2 diplomas.
Students will have the opportunity to earn an associate degree and beyond while simultaneously completing their competency-based secondary education.
